Hi, y’all! I’m Kathy, a designer, tinkerer, dog-loving, ukulele-playing, first-generation Filipino American, and introvert from Houston, Texas! After graudating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a BFA in Graphic Communications/Design, a minor in Art History, and as a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University, I have been an active graphic designer, art director, and citizen in service to the Bayou City—for well over a decade. If I can toot my own horn, my work has been selected for exhibition by the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County, the Art Directors Club of Houston, and the Blaffer Museum at the University of Houston. An active member of the design community, I’ve been a member of AIGA since 2003 with a history of serving on committees and volunteering for the organization, and was selected to participate in AIGA Houston’s mentorship program Design Loop as mentor and speaker. For over ten years, I sat on the board for the University of Houston Graphic Alumni Partnership (UH GAP) serving as the Director of Communications, and formerly as the Director of Programming. With quick wit, and attention to detail, my work spans a multitude of platforms—print, publications, web design, and exhibitions—for a wide range of clientele, specifically involving the community, the arts, and the parks! But perhaps my biggest form of notoriety is my dog, Bella the Beagle, who has her own
Balancing Act.
